Rathergate story, told in anagrams of "Little Green Footballs"
As promised, here's a crack at telling the Rathergate story using only anagrams* of "Little Green Footballs." Instapundit's Rathergate anagram had the letters D-A-N to work with, which was very convenient. But I find calling Dan "goner" seems to fit. Anyway, here goes:
A story in anagrams
of
"Little Green Footballs."
Chapter 1.
TANG libeler: Left's tool.
"Let's fool lettering lab!"
TANG letters libel, fool!
Chapter 2.
Lo, lib net flogs a letter!
Goner abets left's ill lot,
flogs a letter. "Not libel!"
(Goner oft tells lib tales.)
Chapter 3.
Allies blog letter, font.
Chapter 4.
So. Lettering fable toll:
Flog letter, lie lots? = Ban!
Toll fell: To resign beat.
(Goner slot till late Feb.)
I'm working on anagrams of "Powerlineblog," and finding it really challenging. I'll post what I have when I'm done.
Update: Done! Powerlineblog anagram narrative is here.
Update: Thanks to Charles at LGF for the link! Glad to have you, lizardoids; poke around a bit, make yourselves at home.
*Update: It's come to my attention that not everyone knows what an anagram actually is. Basically, it's a word or phrase rearranged to make another word or phrase. All letters must be used. You'll see that every line above uses all the letters, and only the letters, in "Little Green Footballs." For more on anagrams, click on "Anagrams" under "Categories," to your right.

When I was in grad school studying physics, I was very enamored with the renormalization group until I discovered that it was an anagram of "protozoan urinal grime."

That was great. I was sad to see that nobody on LGF liked it. I guess verbal antics are not their style.

Aw, shucks, Jolly Conservative. Thanks!
As far as LGF goes... anagrams are something you either "get" or don't get. In fact, I'd say that in general some people are word-game lovers, and some people just don't understand the point of playing with letters and words.
If you don't grasp what anagrams are, and read the story as prose writing, well, then, you're not going to think much of it. Probably the kinds of people who appreciate anagrams the most are the ones who have tried to do some themselves.
I've gotten thousands upon thousands of hits on these anagram posts, and hardly any comments, which is odd. I hope people aren't just scratching their heads and thinking "why is that writing so stilted?"
Also, to be fair, it's not true that no one on LGF liked it -- the people who understand what anagrams are really liked it. And Charles obviously liked it. :-) (As did Glenn at Instapundit.)

You probably aren't getting many comments because we're humbled in the presence of greatness and slink away, ashamed any prose we might attempt in praise. :-)

Nice work. I'm an LGF regular, as well as a writer, and I do know what an anagram is, I'll have you know. :)
When I read your story late last night, I was too tired to understand a word, though. Playing "the name game" on Obama was as complicated as I got last night.
Now that I'm up bright and early (thanks to the roofers next door, who sound like they're dropping elephants into a dumpster), I have read it again. I get it! Anagrams are addictive (all fleet boots grin), but mine make no sense. Good look on the vowel-poor but worthy Powerline.

Good luck as well (yawns, flinches, yawns again). :)

Too much work for me.

Catt: Yes, anagrams are addictive. And I'll need all the "look," and luck, I can get in order to anagram Powerline. Thanks!

Rod: Too much work for YOU?! =:^o !!

Well, *I* enjoyed it, and you've been bookmarked.
(So there!) ;-)
